The Simplest Way to Lose Weight

Weight loss is simple. Very, very simple… if you let it be.

Most people over-complicate the process of losing weight. They end up tired, frustrated, and demotivated.

Complex diets can work, but they certainly aren’t necessary.

Tortuous exercise routines can burn fat, but they’re often more likely to make you learn to hate the gym long before you get lean abs and sexy glutes.

Elaborate and expensive supplementation regimens can speed up fat loss, but most of the time the real benefits are minimal.

Too much complexity is a killer when it comes to fitness and weight loss. So let’s remove complexity right now and choose the super-simple path.

The simplest way to lose weight —not to mention one of the easiest, safest, and healthiest— is to eat very high quality, natural, unprocessed food at least 90% of the time.

That means eating mostly vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, eggs, and meats. Include some healthy oils, like virgin olive oil and unrefined coconut oil, and you have the ideal weight loss diet.

The occasional cheat meal (or even cheat day) full of grains, sugars, and processed food is OK. Just keep them to once or twice a week max.

Eating quality natural food almost exclusively allows your body to rid itself of unnecessary fat in a very fast, efficient way. Our biology gives us that ability, so take advantage of it!

Here are more tips for burning fat and losing weight in the simplest way possible…

Eat a veggie-heavy diet

Eating lots of vegetables is without a doubt one of the simplest ways to reduce hunger, avoid binge eating, and lose weight — with an added bonus of greatly improving your overall health. Veggies are full of fiber and can be prepared in many, many delicious ways. Don’t be afraid to eat them raw, cooked, or with a little bit of delicious fat (e.g. butter or healthy ranch dressing). Just be sure to eat mostly low-glycemic vegetables.

No matter what, eat some veggies about half an hour before every meal. You’ll feel MUCH less hungry and will be able to make better choices in terms of food quantity and quality.

Avoid all added sugars

Nothing makes weight loss easier, faster, and simpler than cutting out all “extra” sugar from your diet. If possible, the only sugar you should eat should be the natural fructose found in fruit. Besides having lots of empty calories, sugar severely messes up your insulin levels, triggering fat storage. By avoiding it as much as possible, you’ll allow your body to quickly shed pounds (both via fat loss and “water weight” loss).

Do 20 minutes of simple exercise every day

You don’t need to gear up and drive to the gym. Just squeeze in 20 minutes of simple, effective exercise every day. Speed walking, jogging, bike riding, bodyweight squats, rope jumping, Zumba, hula-hooping, etc. etc. Whatever you enjoy is fine. Just make sure you break a sweat and breathe just hard enough that holding a conversation isn’t easy.

Simple, enjoyable daily exercise is a key to faster, easier, more pain-free weight loss, so don’t skip it!

Bonus: 7 things you should not do

Here are a few things many people do to complicate weight loss. We’ll discuss each of them in a future article, but for now just avoid them like the plague!

  1. Do too many long and/or hard workouts.
  2. Follow fad diets.
  3. Do only cardio training and little or no muscle-building exercise.
  4. Avoid all carbs and all fat.
  5. Do drastic calorie cutting on a regular basis.
  6. Sacrifice sleep for workouts.
  7. Use more than 2 diet supplements specifically for weight loss.
